1. Before installing DiskDoubler (or any new software), we recommend making an up-to-date backup of your important files.
2. To install DiskDoubler, simply double-click the “DiskDoubler™ Installer” program. If you have a virus checking program installed, we recommend disabling it first, as it may interfere with the installation process.
3. Before using DiskDoubler you may want to run "DiskChecker", just to make sure your disks are working correctly. The installer puts DiskChecker on your startup disk. We recommend verifying your disk with "Disk First Aid" before running DiskChecker ("Disk First Aid" comes with Apple System Software).
4. Although the DiskDoubler Installer delete the old copies of DiskDoubler it finds in your System Folder, it does not delete old copies you may have elsewhere on your disk or on other disks. It is best to delete these old copies.
Features you don't want to miss…
--------------------------------
• Hold down the SHIFT key when pulling down the DD menu to see four new commands:
-- Compress To… for making compressed backups to another location
-- Expand To… makes an expanded copy to another location
-- Copy To… a high speed copy command
-- Create SEA… creates a self-expanding archive
• Method B (in Settings dialog). This new improved compression method compresses files smaller than ever before. It is somewhat slower than method A. We highly recommend it for telecommunications because it generates very small files.
• Background operation right from the DD menu. To allow it, check the "Can Switch To Background" option in the Settings dialog.
• Full System 7 compatibility, including Balloon help and color icons, support for Apple events, including compress and expand events, and 32 bit clean operation.
We hope you'll enjoy DiskDoubler. Thanks again from the team at Salient!
